Project management training
Our services
Technological projects are intrinsically complex. Poor project management risks a complete collapse of the project, many of which have to be written-off. Project management teams with Prince2 certifications and Agile practices may still run into difficulties without significant technical background and experience. Project managers need to have a strong grip on technology, good design practices, dependencies, supply chain management, compliance and standards requirements, human resource capabilities and gaps in them, strategic goals, written specifications, appraisals and audits, finances, resources and their allocation, deliverables and milestones, global context and state-of-play, unit testing, designing test cases for software or hardware prototypes and their statistical/end-user evaluation, etc. etc. It is unreasonable to expect that class-room training alone can produce great project managers. As with anything else, it is a learning exercise to manage complex projects and managing good projects comes with experience and from teachings of good project managers.
Our approach
- We convert an existing project into a written case study to evaluate its inputs, outputs, processes, resources and timeline.
- Review of current project management practices and SWOT analysis
- An evaluation of project management tools used and practices highlighting areas of improvement
- A review of internal and external dependencies and whether these are managed properly
- A review of project teams’ approach to communication, feedback and research of best practices
- Training and recommendations for project management team
Issues you may be facing
Project managers are the first point of contact where projects are not performing in terms of finances, delivery of milestones, and have received poor appraisals. If their work is suspect, investors and business owners can lose interest in projects and hope can turn into crisis management. Our services would be useful if you are facing the following difficulties:
- Projects are running late and/or not performing to your expectations
- You feel that external appraisals and training are needed in the project management area
- You feel that project management team lacks the ability to manage high-end technical projects
- Projects need to be salvaged with a new plan of action
