Problem Statement in Detail :
To design and develop a battery based IOT sensor to detect hot axle and brake binding in wagons and relay the information for action by concerned authorities.
Technical Requirement:
- The sensor and all on-board equipment should be able to operate in IR operating conditions.
- The sensor and all other on-board equipment should conform to relevant international or national standards.
- These systems should have capability of running on batteries for 2 years.
- These systems should be able to carry information about the particular axle/wheel for at least 2 months on rolling basis.
- The system should be able to transfer information to maintenance depot through physical or virtual connection to their local computers.
Functional Requirement:
- Hot axle box detector IOT will continuously monitor the temperature of the axle box at given particular intervals and relay the information(alarm) if the temperature reaches a particular threshold above ambient or the difference between the two axle boxes on the same axle increases beyond the given limit.
- Brake Binding detector will monitor the release of brakes and will relay the information(alarm) if the even after the brake is released from locomotive, the brake pad is still sticking to the wheel tread and is continuously rubbing with it.
